Artist, Maggie White was born in England and introduced to painting at an early age when her grandmother, who was an artist, took her painting “ pleine air”. She won her first juried show award at 16, her High School art prize at 18, and continued her art interests by attending art school full time. She immigrated to Canada in 1975 and is now a Canadian citizen living on the West Coast of Canada. The West Coast is the inspiration for much of her work. She has had a successful art career spanning many years with many one-woman shows in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, Tofino and Calgary and her work has been shown across Canada. She has also participated in many juried shows.

Maggie is the recipient of many awards for her work including the “Best in Show” cash award at a Fraser Valley, “Images and Objects” show and an “Excellence in the Arts” award presented with 5 local mayors in attendance. Active in many art groups at one time, she earned signature status at the Federation of Canadian Artists and had a one-woman show and a 4 person show at their gallery before exhibiting exclusively with commercial galleries.
Maggie is also a former signature member and B.C. Regional Director of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and organized the first show of B.C. member's work in B.C. She is a past president of the Port Moody Art Association and was an art instructor for various groups such as ARC, her local art council, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, The Port Moody Art Centre and various art workshop groups. She successfully published her own limited edition prints and art cards under her business name “Inlet Arts”. Many commissions successfully completed include Pacific Sands Resort Tofino, City of Port Moody and Bank of Montreal. Her work has been published in “Best of Worldwide Water Media” by the American company “Kennedy Press.”
Her focus now is just doing what she loves which is painting in her Port Moody studio. She works in watercolour, acrylic and oils.
